110827 Idol Sports Competition Fan account

I’m sunburnt and look like Rudolph right now, but it was all worth it because I got to go to Jamsil Olympic Stadium today to see the Idol Sports Day. My fanaccount is pretty lengthy because I got to see most, if not all the artists today. I don’t think I’m allowed to disclose any results or talk about the races or anything but I just want to share my experience and spazz over seeing so many of my favourite artists !! Also, Shawols make me so proud. They’re mature and organised and also really really loyal despite being taken ‘advantage of’, which is what I think of the situation (or great big mess) that occurred this morning :/.

There is a whole lot of text, but I’ve tried to split it up so that if you’re looking for a particular group/artist, you’ll know what I saw of them! My photos aren’t that great so I’m not really in a hurry to upload them, but I will try upload more videos onto my channel over the next few days!

The first part of this fan account is the ‘hell’ I experienced lining up to get into the stadium. It’s not that important, but I just think the Shawols are worth praising for their effort and patience ~
So I arrived at Jamsil Stadium just before 6am and already there were lines of fans. Surprisingly majority of the fans waiting were Shawols (I expected there to be the most ELFs). I also heard that about 1500 fans waited overnight! We were surrounded by lines and lines of SHINee fans organised by the fan staff who were really young. They looked around 12, 13? More and more fans started coming though so the fan staff started drawing circles or triangles on our wrists (circles were for the earlier fans in the lines beside us - we got triangles) so as to keep everyone organised.

About an hour later though, for some reason, fans started screaming and a herd of them, including a really big group of late fans (they had Beast and B1A4 signs) ran forward towards the doors at the stadium. All the Shawols I was in line with stayed calm though because we figured there was a procedure and since we were lined up and did things in order, we would get preference, or at least be let in before them. WRONG.
Because of the rush of people who ran towards the stadium door, everything became congested and no one could move. That group of fans kept shouting for the guards to open the door, but still the Shawols didn’t move from their lines. Soon, fans began to file in. ELFs were let in first, and then fans of other groups I later found out were everyone BUT Shawols. Inspirit and Bestfriend got the best seats.

Eventually all the Shawols got up and started towards the big queue of people entering the stadium. However the line didn’t move and we ended up standing for five hours. We were all sweaty and hot and pressed up against each other and two girls even fainted within arm’s reach of me (so I’m not sure how many girls fainted in total since we were just this massive sea of people). The scary thing is that the Shawols around us were all so young, no one knew what to do when the girls fainted. My friend offered them water and one stood up with the help of her friend while the other crouched down after she regained consciousness.

While all of us were stuck in line, ELFs suddenly started coming through our line of people looking for MORE ELFs, completely ignoring the fact that we were all Shawols waiting to get into the stadium. No Shawols had gotten in, yet ELFs were coming out looking for more of their own fans to go in! We were all pretty annoyed by now, and so a few Japanese fans actually put their hand up and said they were ELFs so they could be let into the stadium. The rest of the Shawols did nothing because they were all going to go in as their own fanclub!

All this time, tourists (or foreigners?? We never figured out who they were) were being let into the stadium. They hadn’t waited in line overnight or even from 6am. They arrived at the stadium and walked in with no difficulties whatsoever. Still, Shawols didn’t complain. At around 11am, finally at long last, the line began to move. Other doors were actually free, but all the Shawols stayed as a block. I know this might sound stupid or make no sense, but the fact is that all these fangirls were loyal to each other and to SHINee and weren’t going to enter as another fanclub, even if it meant continue to stand in line.

The thing that made my friend and I really sad was that the Shawols were the most organised. They had the most number of fans in the morning (and the most number of fans who entered!) but they kept everyone in lines. Everyone was cooperative and did as they were told. But in the end, Shawols were left to enter last after every fanclub had been let in, as well as the other fans who got free access! And by free I mean they didn’t have to pay with their hours of waiting in the sun.

So anyway! After all that time we managed to get in :). Fanclubs sat together of course, but since Shawols were let in last, most of us were just finding what were left of good seats (there were none) or trying to squeeze onto stairs and in between railings. My friend and I found ourself standing with Teen Top and MBLAQ fans. Later, Shawols all gathered and sat in an area beside the ELFs and remained there the entire time as a group. My friend and I kept moving around so that we could see each event properly.

The events in order were the Men’s 100m sprint, Women’s, Women’s hurdles followed by Men’s hurdles, Men’s long jump, Women’s high jump, Men’s high jump and then finals for Men’s and Women’s hurdles. I left after that so I’m not sure what else took place. I won’t be uploading all my fancams and photos since the quality isn’t that great but I will link the ones which don’t disclose results or anything.

Okay, so onto the idols I saw! When we first entered the stadium, the opening ceremony was already finished so I had no idea what colours the companies/groups were. As I was pretty far away at this point, I had to really go by hair colour and or the hangeul I could barely see on their bibs. In these two fancams (1, 2) I’m pointing my camera straight at SHINee (Taemin and Jonghyun in the aqua shirts) but I had no idea. B1A4 were really easy to spot because they were in their group and CNU stands out with his glasses and ponytail ^_^. My friend was feeding me by the way, so excuse the muffled talking.

SHINee
I saw Jonghyun only at the very start and he had a towel wrapped around him the entire time. He didn’t participate in any event as far as I saw.
I also hardly saw Taemin. He was in the sprint and hurdles but after that he just kinda disappeared.
Minho was everywhere. HOW COULD HE NOT BE?? He was hyungwhoring with SJ, what’s new?
THERE WAS 2MIN. A LOT OF IT. Minho just went up to Taemin and put his arm around him. He did it a few times and I caught it on camera 8D.
Key was so cute dancing along to the ‘KIM KIBUM’ cheers. I was so slow though so I didn’t manage to capture it even though he did it a few times. Fans cheered for him the loudest outside of when Minho was participating in events. I think it’s because he has the best reactions to their cheers!
Onewwwwwwwwwww. The love of my life. I really wanted to just jump over fans and down to him so that I could give him a hug. He’s so freaking cute !!! But I also think he was unwell. There was a lot of sangtae (I’m sure other fans got much better videos of them) but actually, after the sprints, Onew was by himself the entire time. He just sat a little away from everyone out in the sun and stayed there. He had an umbrella later and kept spinning and spinning it. He did it for like 5 minutes, I swear. Eventually he joined Sungmin under the tent in the shade and lay down on the grass on his tummy, holding his umbrella. SO CUTE. Later when he lay on his back, fans kept shouting ‘LEE JINKI’ and he put his arm up and then just kinda jumped up as if he was alive again. So precious ;-;.
He kept putting in and taking off his jacket though so it made me wonder if he was unwell? He seemed to lack energy too, despite all the cute/weird/sangtae things he did (like he sat down on the grass facing one way, then put his arms out and spun himself to face the other way keke). Just the fact that he was alone about 90% of the time made me really :( :( :(.
UM. WHEN MINHO COMPETES. WATCHING IT IRL IS 1003401983918203 MORE TENSE. I honestly thought I was going to pee my pants watching him high jump. I definitely lost my voice. And I don’t think this will get aired, but what he jumped after it was all over (like, just for fun), was better than his ‘official’ result.

Super Junior
HEECHUL WAS THERE. I’m not sure how long he was there for but during Men’s high jump, the camera suddenly caught him and he just stood up. I wanted to cry when I saw him just because this is the first and last time I’ll see him ??? Until he comes back from the army of course and if I come to Korea again or something.
Shindong has lost so much weight. He looks so different. I think his eyelids also have something to do with it! But he’s just so fit now. He looked pretty hot even, if I’m 100% honest.
Eunhyuk is so pretty and can be seen from every part of the stands with his blonde hair. I loved watching him sprint and hurdle ♥. And he put on a headband during the finals!!
Leeteuk was really professional when he had to MC with Shindong and then again with Eunhyuk. Fans kept calling out his name, screaming for his attention, but he didn’t turn back to them (unless it was at an appropriate time), because he was so focused on his task!
Sungmin wore sunglasses for the entire day. I’m not sure why but I just found it a little odd?? ;;
Kyuhyun looked so sick when I saw him on the screen T_T. He did really well for hurdles though (a lot better than I expected) but near the end of the race he definitely pulled back. I hope he’s okay…

Other SM Artists
JUNGMO IS SO ATTRACTIVE ALKSJFLKDJFLKDSF UGHFHGHA. And he has a really nice build, too. He performed really well too, like always keke.
Heechul was with Jungmo almost the entire time after he was on camera. Bawww :3.
Dana and Sunday were both present, but I didn’t realise Dana was Dana til I came home and looked at my photos.
Sunday got a lot of cheers! Of course from ELFs and Shawols :).
Choi Jong Yoon (actor from Paradise Ranch and Before U Go MV) was also present. It took me almost til the end of the day to realise it was him. He got very little cheers :( :( But he did really well!! He’s so built and when he showed off his biceps I actually let out a girly scream keke
